Jamaat chief calls for Shibir to 'prepare for war' against campus violence, extortion
"You must prevent those involved in these activities from entering the campus and oust them at any cost," says Shafiqur Rahman addressing Shibir
Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Shafiqur Rahman has called upon the party's student wing Shibir to prepare for another war, this time against campus violence and extortion.
"Your future battle will be against those involved in campus violence and extortion. You must prevent them from entering the campus and oust them at any cost," he said during his speech at the Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Member Conference 2024 at the Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital today (31 December).
"The nation will be liberated if you win this war. Otherwise, this nation will continue to stumble," he added.
Addressing Shibir, Shafiqur Rahman said, "I will tell Shibir that your job is to create a conducive learning environment in educational institutions. You will move forward with those who have honesty, competence, and patriotism.
"The Awami League has declared war against the people of the country for the past 15 years, but due to the mass movement of students and the public, that autocracy has now fled."
He cautioned that the AL would continue to carry out "secret killings".
The Jamaat chief said every fascist who committed genocide in the 2024 movement must be tried, and no one will be spared.
Mentioning the attack on the Jamaat rally on 28 October 2006, he said the AL leader brought terrorists from all over the country to Paltan and attacked Jamaat-Shibir, killing several people and "dancing on their corpses".
"For the past 15 years, they have turned every university, school, and college in the country into an arsenal," he said.
"Those who talk about the spirit of independence have remained silent when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned the country's independence," the Jamaat ameer said.
