Citizens' Committee stages protest in Dhaka over attack on its leader in Brahmanbaria
The National Citizens' Committee today (15 December) staged a demonstration in Dhaka protesting the attack on its Joint Chief Organiser Mohammad Ataullah and several others in Brahmanbaria.
The organisation held a protest march from their office at Bangla Motor to Shahbagh this evening.
Its Convener Nasiruddin Patwari, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Member Secretary Arif Sohal, and other leaders and activists were present.
Sarjis Alam said, "Those who have played a role in the anti-fascist movement are being attacked in various places."
He also called for immediate action to restore the trust of the people.
Meanwhile, Ataullah alleged that they were beaten up at the office of Brahmanbaria District Bar Association General Secretary Advocate Md Mofizur Rahman Babul.
He also claimed that the local police were informed at the time, but they did not take any action.
The speakers at the protest demanded Advocate Md Mofizur Rahman Babul be expelled from the Brahmanbaria District Bar Association and the attackers be brought to justice.
