Committee formed to investigate Buriganga launch capsize
The committee will submit a report on the incident to the ministry within the next seven days
The shipping ministry has formed a seven-member inquiry committee to investigate the capsizing of a launch in the Buriganga River on Monday morning.
The ministry has issued an official order in this regard said a press release issued by the Ministry of Shipping.
Joint Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Shipping Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Khan will act as the convener of the committee. Director (Naval Safety) of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Mohammad Rafiqul Islam will act as the member secretary.
The committee will submit a report on the incident to the ministry within the next seven days.
It will also make specific recommendations regarding the cause of the accident, identification of the person or organisation responsible for the accident, and what should be done to prevent such accidents in the future.
