3 yaba traders jailed in Chattogram

A Chattogram court has sentenced three yaba traders to 15 years in jail.
Senior Special Metropolitan Session Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman passed the verdict on Monday, said Public Prosecutor Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury.
In the same verdict, the court also fined them with Tk10,000, in default, asked to serve six more months in jail.
The convicts are Ali Ahmed, 52, Md Hamidullah, 32, and Md Mohiuddin, 35.
Fakhruddin said that RAB arrested Ali and Hamidullah on January 17, 2016, along with 27.5 lakh yaba tablets raiding a fishing trawler in the Patenga area.
Moreover, based on the information given by the arrestees, RAB also detained Mohiuddin with an addition of 50,000 pieces of yaba.
RAB officer Mohsin Kabir, filed a case against the trio with Patenga police station under Narcotics Control Act.
On May 27, 2016, the investigating officer filed a charge sheet against them. After the charges were set against the accused on September 6 of the same year, the court recorded testimony of four witnesses.
'At the time of the verdict, three accused were in court. Later, they were sent to jail on the orders of the court," added PP Fakhruddin.
