4 remanded over vandalising Bangabandhu’s sculpture
Miscreants vandalised the sculpture of Bangabandhu at Panch Rastar Morh area in Kushtia on Friday night
A court today placed four persons including two madrasa students on a five-day remand and other two teachers on a four-day remand in a case filed over damaging an under construction sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.
Kushtia Superintendent of Police (SP) SM Tanvir Arafat on Sunday said the students – Abu Bakar and Sabuj Islam Nahid – are directly involved in the vandalism.
Both students are aged 14 while two others - Alamin and Yusuf are teachers of a Madrasa in Kushtia town's Jugia area.
Miscreants vandalised the sculpture of Bangabandhu at Panch Rastar Morh area in Kushtia on Friday night (December 4).
According to Kushtia Municipality sources, it was decided in November that three sculptures of Bangabandhu at the intersection of Panch Rasta of the town will be erected with the municipality's funds.
Work started on November 17 and a part of it was already finished but some miscreants vandalised various parts and broke them off.
