Hefazat leader Harun Izhar placed on 9 day remand

A Chattogram court on Monday placed Hefazat-e-Islam leader Harun Izhar on a nine day remand in connection with the mayhem recently caused by Hefazat activists in the Chattogram's Hathazari area.
Judge Helal Uddin of Chattogram's senior judicial magistrate court put Harun Izhar on remand for three cases filed against him with Hathazari police station.
The court also ordered him to be shown arrested in another two Hathazari police station cases.
Humayun Kabir, court inspector of Chattogram district police said that to interrogate Harun, police sought a 21 day remand for the three cases. However, the court granted only nine days, three days each for each of the three cases.
Earlier on Wednesday night, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Harun Izhar, former educational and cultural secretary of the recently dissolved Hefazat-e-Islam, from Jamiatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrasha in Lalkhan Bazar of the port city.
