Suspended gardener placed on 3-day fresh remand

Suspended gardener Rabiul Islam, the main accused of the brutal attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali, has been placed on a three-day fresh remand.
He was produced before Dinajpur Chief Judicial Magistrate court after completion of his six-days remand on Thursday, with a plea of another seven-day remand from the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
"However, the court of Justice Anjuman Ara granted a fresh remand of three days," Imam Zafar, DB Police OC and also investigating officer of the case told The Business Standard.
Upon interrogation, Rabiul confessed earlier that he was the mastermind of the crime committed out of grudge.
Police seized a hammer, stick, ladder used in the attack and sent his pants, fingerprints, mobile location to Dhaka as a proof so that these can be helpful in judicial work.
On September 3, UNO Wahida and her father were brutally attacked inside their government quarter.
Wahida's elder brother Sheikh Farid Uddin filed a case on September 3 against 4-5 unknown people at Ghoraghat Police Station over the incident.
Later, on September 11, Robiul Islam, 43, who had been suspended from his post of the gardener over a theft case, was detained from his house.
