Cricketer Tamim donates 5 water tanks to coastal people of Satkhira
National cricketer Tamim Iqbal has donated five water tanks to supply potable water to the coastal people of Satkhira after the district was devastated by cyclonic storm Amphan.
The CDO Youth Team, a volunteer group, is supplying water to coastal people from the water tanks.
Gazi Al Imran, director of the CDO Youth Team in Shyamnagar upazila said water is being supplied to different places of Burigoalini and Padmapukur unions from the five water tanks provided by Tamim. There is an acute shortage of potable water in the unions, he added.

Apart from this, a non-government organisation named Barsik gave four more water tanks for the supply of potable water.
Some 40 volunteers from the CDO Youth Team have been supplying around 14,000 litres of drinking water to the people of the unions.
Meanwhile, national team cricketer Tamim Iqbal on his verified Facebook page highlighted the drinking water crisis on the Satkhira coast and thanked the volunteers involved in the water supply.
The water crisis in the coastal areas needs a permanent solution, said Gazi Imran. In order to find a permanent solution, it is necessary to dig freshwater ponds, install more machines and make arrangements for storing rain water.
Only then will the water problem on the coast of Shyamnagar, which has been devastated by one disaster after another, be solved.
However, Arshad Ali, executive engineer of the Satkhira Department of Public Health Engineers, said the water crisis in the coastal area caused by Hurricane Amfan has already been resolved. There is currently no shortage of drinking water on the coast.
