27 muggers arrested from Dhaka
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have busted a mugging racket and arrested 27 muggers following separate drives in different parts of Dhaka.
"RAB members conducted the drives in the capital's Shahjahanpur, Motijheel, Paltan, Shahbagh, and Kamalapur areas on Thursday night," said Commanding Officer of RAB-3 Lt Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed in a media briefing on Friday.
Daggers, knives, anaesthetic spray, mobile phones, SIM cards, and money were seized from their possession.
"The arrestees used to roam around the bus stops and railway station areas in the capital city. Then they target indiscreet travellers, hold them hostage and feed them with poisonous sedatives. Later, they stripped off their belongings and fused into the crowd," said Lt Colonel Arif Mohiuddin.
