ASK concerned over border killings by BSF
BSF firing killed 17 people and injured 12 between January to June 16 this year
Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) has expressed its deep concerns over the recent killing of a Bangladeshi national by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Nitpur border of Porsha under Naogaon district, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday.
Simultaneously, ASK has called on the Bangladesh government to take effective measures to stop such inhumane and brutal killings, it adds.
According to some media reports on June 15, 2020, Subhash Roy, 37, was shot dead by the BSF at the Porsha Nitpur border in Naogaon. Subhash Roy was a shepherd.

The incident took place in the early hours of the morning near Pillar No 227 on the border inside India.
According to ASK, between January to June 16 this year, 17 people were killed and 12 others were injured in BSF firing at the borders, says the press release.
In 2019, a total 37 people died in shootings and six died from torture. Such killings and torture have been going on for years. Despite repeated promises from the Indian government to stop such border killings, this is a reflection of their promises, and it is highly disappointing, the press release reads.
"Such behavior from a friendly and neighbouring country is unacceptable. This kind of torture and killing is actually creating bitterness and mistrust between the people of both the countries," the press release adds.
ASK believes that the torture and killings are a violation of international human rights law. ASK hopes that the Bangladesh government will soon make strong diplomatic efforts with the Indian government to stop such killings and torture.
