BSTI seizes fake cosmetics worth Tk1 crore
The owner of the factory was arrested and sentenced to three months in jail with a fine of Tk 1 lakh
Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has seized fake cosmetics worth around Tk1 crore.
A BSTI mobile court, led by its Executive Magistrate Begum Rashida Akhter, seized the products during drives in the Bangshal area of the capital from 11am to 2pm Wednesday, said a BSTI press release.
The drives were carried out at the factory of Md Mamun Mia who had long been selling fake cosmetics using labels of different well-known companies.
At that time, a truck of fake cosmetics worth about Tk1 crore, with labels of Parachute Coconut Oil, Parachute Jasmine, Dabur Vatika Amla, Kumarika Hair Oil etc was seized.
Also, raw materials for making cosmetics, labels, a huge quantity of empty bottles, perfumes of different colours and flavours were also seized.
