Building security guards confess to murdering Chinese businessman
They strangled Gao with a towel and then stole Tk3,45,000 from his apartment
Two security guards on Monday confessed to murdering Chinese businessman Gao Jianhui on December 10 at Banani, Dhaka.
The duo is Abdur Rauf, 27 and Enamul Haque, 27, who worked as security guards at the building where Gao used to live.
Rauf and Enamul confessed to the Metropolitan Magistrate courts of Tofazzel Hossen and Mohammad Jashim respectively. The courts ordered to send them to prison after recording their statements, said Sub-Inspector Rakibul Hassan, general recording officer of Gulshan police station.

They killed Gao by strangling him with a towel and stole Tk3,45,000 from his house.
After murdering him, they buried him in the backyard of the building.
On December 11, police recovered the body of Gao Jianhui, 47, from the capital's Banani area. A special team of the Detective Branch (East) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Rauf and Enamul in connection with the murder of Gao on December 18.
Gao used to supply stones and other construction material to the Padma Bridge and Payra Port projects. He had been living in the apartment for a year.
Police recovered a broken mobile set, a towel and water bucket used during the murder, and other materials used to bury the body. Law enforcement also recovered Tk1.21 lakh of the stolen cash in their possession, said Additional Commissioner Abdul Baten.
"They planned and executed the murder together," he added.
Planning and execution
Both Rouf and Enamul lived together on the rooftop of the building. They quickly became friends.
Out of envy for the luxurious lifestyles of the rich residents of the building, both decided to rob Gao as he lived alone in his apartment. They learned that Gao kept cash in his room.
On December 6, they made their first attempt to kill Gao but failed. They rang the bell of the apartment but went back as nobody responded.
Four days later, they tried again. At around 6pm on December 10, Gao opened the door when they rang the bell.
Upon entering the apartment, Enamul wrapped the towel around Gao's neck, while Rouf grabbed him by the waist. After killing him, they took Tk3.49 lakh and his mobile phone and went back to their room on the roof.
Around 11pm, Rouf dug a pit in the backyard of the building as he was on duty that night and buried him with the help of Enamul.
