DB ASI among 5 chargesheeted over Rangpur schoolgirl gang rape
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has pressed chargesheet against five people including suspended assistant sub-inspector of Rangpur Detective Branch of police for reportedly raping a ninth-grader girl and afterwards assisting her gangrape in Rangpur city.
The accused DB ASI is Raihanul Islam alias Raju.
The chargesheet was submitted to assistant police commissioner Arifuzzaman, duty official of senior judicial magistrate in Rangpur, on Tuesday.

According to the case statement, ASI Raihanul developed a romantic relationship with the ninth-grader and he introduced himself to the girl as Raju.
On 18 September 2020, he took the girl to the home of Aleya Begum Meghla, a tenant of local Shahidullah Miya of Kaderer Pool area, and raped her there.
Later accused Raihanul allowed multiple other men to rape her. After the incident, the girl informed the police.
The rape survivor's father filed a case with Haragach police station over the incident.
The accused ASI, his associates Sumaiya Parvin Meghla, Sampa, Abul Kalam Azad and Babul Hossain gave confessional statement in the case.
The PBI filed the chargesheet against them in court today after matching the various information and material found in the remand and after receiving the DNA report.
