DB policeman, accomplices allegedly gang-rape a girl in Rangpur

An assistant sub-inspector of Detective Branch of Rangpur police along with his accomplices has allegedly gang-raped a ninth-grader in Rangpur.

Police rescued the girl on Sunday night and then admitted her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

However, police arrested the alleged rapist ASI Raihanul and the woman named Aleya, in whose house the heinous crime allegedly took place. 

According to the victim's family and locals, ASI Raihanul lured the girl in the name of love to the house of Shahidullah Miah's tenant Aleya Begum in Kadarerpool area of Haragachh upazila on Sunday morning.

There Raihanul raped the girl and later some of his accomplices raped her again. 

The victim's father Aynal filed a rape case against Raihanul Islam on the night.

Abu Maruf Hossain, deputy police commissioner (crime) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, on Monday said initial interrogation revealed that two people had raped the girl.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim said stern action would be taken against those involved in the incident.
