Mohammad Atiqul Islam, former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, was arrested from the capital's Mohakhali DOHS area.
"Atiqul has been arrested over a murder case filed with the Mohammadpur Police Station," Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman told The Business Standard.
Atiqul has been accused in a number of cases since the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August.
