Four detained over alleged gang rape of woman in Faridpur

Four people have been arrested in connection with the gang rape of a woman in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district.
Police arrested them on Wednesday night, said Moksedur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station.
A court sent them to jail after they appeared before it on Thursday.
The woman was reportedly raped on January 30 and she lodged a complaint with Bhanga Police Station on Wednesday.
The arrestees are Saidul Matubbar, son of Ezahar Matubbar, Farid Matubbar, son of Ayub Matubbar, Saddam Matubbar, son of Pachu Matubbar of Aurakanda village in Bhanga upazila and Nasir Khan, son of Elu Khan of Nagarkanda upazila.
According to the complaint, the woman was heading towards her paternal aunt's house in Moksedpur upazila of Gopalganj district from her in-law's house in Madaripur by a human hauler on 30 January.
When she reached Aurakanda bus stand in Faridpur five people intercepted her and took her to a mustard field forcibly.
Later, they raped her in turns and left her there in an unconscious condition.
The woman returned to her in-laws house in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district.
On February 1, she again went to her paternal aunt's house and described the incident to her aunt.
Later she lodged a complaint with Bhanga Police Station on Wednesday.
Police sent the victim to a hospital for a medical test.
