Help police to keep crimes in check: DMP commissioner
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali today called upon the people to help police in maintaining law and order, and controlling crimes.
"The residents of Mohammadpur realised the impact of the inactiveness of police as they did not sleep for nights after 5 August. So, help the police to maintain the law and order and check crimes," he said at a view-exchange meeting with residents of Mohammadpur Thana areas at the Suchona Community Centre.
Mentioning that the main task of police is to ensure security, the commissioner said, "So, we have to ensure security giving it the utmost priority."
Sazzad said they have been monitoring the activities of gangs of extortionists on footpaths.
"Legal action would be taken against extortionists," he said.
The DMP commissioner has sounded the note of warning against illegal drugs trading, saying, "Drug traders would not be spared."
He requested the political parties to hold rallies at specific places instead of roads to reduce public sufferings.
"All including the political leadership should come forward to build the state," he said.
High officials of the DMP were present at the meeting.
