Man wanted in loan fraud cases arrested from Dhaka airport
Noor Alam Sabuj has been sent to jail after producing him before a court on Monday noon
Police arrested an expatriate from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, who was wanted in eight different cases over loan fraud.
The arrestee was identified as Noor Alam Sabuj, 35, hailing from Sadekpur village in Senbug upazila of Noakhali district.
Noor Alam Sabuj has been sent to jail after producing him before a court on Monday noon, said Abdul Baten Mridha, officer-in-charge of Senbagh Police Station.
Sub Inspector (SI) Sabuj Chandra Paul of Senbug Police Station said Noor Alam Sabuj had a business of brick kiln at Kabilpur union before 2019.
As a businessman, he borrowed around Tk45 crore from different banks, financial institutions, and individuals, including Tk28.45 crore from One Bank.
Later, he fled the country without repaying the loans to the banks and individuals.
On this ground, One Bank filed six loan fraud cases with Senbug Police Station and two other cases with Sudharam Police Station in Noakhali.
Airport police arrested him from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport soon after landing from Dubai on Saturday night, the OC added.
