RAB fines 12 storehouses Tk41 lakh for selling adulterated fruits

A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined 12 storehouses in Old Dhaka's Badamtoli area Tk41 lakh for storing and selling rotten dates and unripe mango.
During Sunday's anti-adulteration drive led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam, 41 tonnes of adulterated dates and mangoes were seized from the warehouses.
Sarwar said several unscrupulous businessmen were trying to sell unripe mangoes as ripe mangoes as well as rotten dates by using chemicals.
The mobile court fined the warehouses on charge of storing and selling adulterated fruits, he added.
He further said, "The court sentenced three warehouse owners to various terms of imprisonment, and ordered to seal four storehouses."
