Rab trying to find motive behind Sinha killing

The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), which is investigating the killing of retired army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan in Teknaf, is now interrogating the three prime accused and the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) members face to face to verify what they have learned during the primary interrogation of the 13 accused.
The Rab is also trying to find out why former inspector Liaqat Ali allegedly shot Sinha within a couple of minutes of seeing him at the APBn check-post on the Cox's Bazar Marine Drive.
"Liaqat claimed that he was called by police sources who said some robbers were seen in Tuinya Pahar in the Marishbunia area. We asked him if robbers use modern luxurious vehicles like Toyota Allion, to which Liaqat could not answer properly. Now, we are looking for the motive behind the killing," a source told the Business Standard.

"We are also trying to find out the cause of the deep wound on Sinha's throat, and whether or not he was tortured mercilessly after the shooting. That will lead us to the motive behind the killing," he added.
Meanwhile, a Cox's Bazar court on Tuesday placed three witnesses in the Sinha murder case on four-day remand.
Tamanna Farah, judge of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-3, Teknaf, granted the remand on Tuesday.
The three witnesses are: Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Mohammad Ayas of Marishbunia, Baharchhara in Teknaf.
Earlier, the court placed them on a seven-day remand on August 12. They were taken into Rab custody on August 14 and sent to jail on August 20 after questioning.
On August 9, a Rab team detained them from the Marishbunia area of Teknaf on charges of involvement in the incident.
"The investigating officer of the case requested another four-day remand for more information," Rab Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Khairul Islam confirmed the information.
On July 3, Sinha went to Cox's Bazar with Shipra Debnath, Shahedul Islam Sifat and Taskin to film a travel video.
Major (retd) Sinha was shot dead by police at Shamlapur check post on the night of July 31 while he was on his way back to Nilima Resort in the Himchhari area of Cox's Bazar on Marine Drive after filming a video on Marishbunia hill in Teknaf.
