Ramu OC apologises before court for submitting inconsistent seizure list

Abul Khair, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramu Police Station in Cox's Bazar, has apologised unconditionally before the court for submitting inconsistent seizure lists in the case filed against Shipra Rani Debnath, following the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Delwar Hossain has received the written explanation, confirmed sources at the court.
The police filed a case with Ramu Police Station against Shipra Debnath on August 1 in connection with the killing of Sinha.

Five days later, a list of related evidence was submitted to the court.
On August 20, a Cox's Bazar court sought an explanation from the OC for the delay in submitting the list of evidence.
After Sinha was killed, police conducted a drive at Nilima Resort in Ramu where the retired major and his three co-workers were staying. The police seized some evidence related to the case and arrested Shipra from there.
Although police initially claimed to seize only liquor and marijuana from the resort, later they mentioned 29 pieces of evidence including camera and laptop.
A video of the drive at the Nilima Resort revealed that the police were seizing bullets, hard disk, and laptop.
Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-3 judge Md Helal Uddin heard two appeals – one made by Md Shafiqul Alam, sub-inspector of Himchari Police Camp in Ramu on August 17 and another by Biman Chandra Karmakar, additional superintendent of police from RAB-15 on August 18.
After the hearing, the court ordered the officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station to submit a written explanation for the delay in submitting the list of evidence.
Seven policemen will be produced before the court on Friday
The seven policemen who had been arrested over Sinha murder case will be produced before the Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday.
Meanwhile, three prime accused Teknaf police station's suspended OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchhara Police Outpost's inspector Liakat Ali and sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakkhit's second phase remand of four days already passed on Thursday.
The investigation officer of the case, Md Khairul Islam, senior assistant superintendent of police of RAB-15, said they might produce the accused for recording confessional statements.
"If they deny giving a confessional statement, the investigation officer may seek remand for a few more days," said a source involved in the investigation.
