Dhaka airport’s third terminal to ease air travels: PM
She said two new aircrafts to be bought would expand international connectivity
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said air travels would be easier once the construction of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport was done.
She said plane journeys would be more secure and comfortable when the terminal would be ready.
"The new terminal will be able to host around 1.20 crore passengers a year," the prime minister said while addressing the Sixth International Flight Safety Seminar at a hotel in the capital.
She said two new aircrafts to be bought would expand international connectivity.
"The government has a plan to establish a new airport in Khulna's Bagerhat," the premier added.
Hasina said the government was working to turn Saidpur Airport into a regional airport to boost connectivity with the neighboring countries.
At present, Bangladesh has three international airports and 12 domestic airports.
The prime minister said the country's tourism industry would expand if the sector could be modernised.
