Dhaka-Jalpaiguri train service to start 26 March
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to inaugurate it
The trans-border passenger train service between Bangladesh and India is expected to start operating from 26 March.
According to Bangladesh Railway sources, the train will run directly from Dhaka to New Jalpaiguri Rail Junction in India on the Chilahati-Haldibari route to mark the 50th anniversary of independence, said a press release.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to inaugurate it during Modi's visit to Dhaka marking the celebration of independence.
Its arrival and departure time, fare, immigration and name will be decided through discussions at the official level of the Railways Ministries of both countries.
