DNCC finds Aedes larvae in 92 houses on fourth day of drive

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) found Aedes mosquito larvae in 92 houses and establishments on the fourth day of its 10-day combing drive to destroy breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
During the operation on Thursday, the DNCC mobile court fined the owners of houses and establishments Tk1.89 lakh in 17 cases for the presence of larvae in their areas.
They also removed stagnant water and destroyed breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito from 8,340 houses and establishments.
On this day, the DNCC conducted drives in 13,515 houses and establishments in the areas of all its 54 wards, said a media release issued by the North city corporation.
Keeping it postponed on Friday only, the drive will resume on Saturday again.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted its regular drives in the Dhanmondi, Demra and Postogola areas to evict illegal establishments and to destroy Aedes mosquito larvae on the day.
Mohammad Moniruzzaman, executive magistrate of DSCC, conducted the eviction drive in Postogola area and removed 9 illegally occupied establishments and vans and fined encroachers Tk20,000. Three cases were also filed against encroachers in this regard.
Besides, as part of its anti-mosquito drive, the DSCC conducted drives in its 15 no. and 66 no. wards and fined the owners of houses and establishments Tk78 thousand in seven cases.
