DMCH doctors on strike, medical services halted
One of the doctors said they will go on a complete shutdown from 2pm today
Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) went on a strike in protest against an assault on doctors in the operation theatre following the death of a student under treatment and vandalism in the emergency department during another incident.
Protesting doctors said they went on strike from 9am today (1 September) due to security concerns of the doctors.
The health secretary is currently holding a meeting with the doctors and hospital staff.
Seeking anonymity, one of the doctors told The Business Standard that they will go on a complete shutdown from 2pm today.
"We will shut down all indoor and outdoor activities of the hospital," the doctor said.
The doctors will also announce their further programme at the DMCH's Bagan gate at 2pm.
Meanwhile, no medical services are available in the entire hospital, including the emergency department.
