DoE fines four people Tk14.40 lakh for cutting hills in Chattogram
The fine was determined as per the Bangladesh Environmental Protection Act 1995
The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined four people Tk14.40 lakh for cutting hills in Chattogram.
Mohammad Nurullah Noori, director of DoE (Chittagong Metropolitan), penalised them after a hearing on the matter at the department's metropolitan office on Tuesday, according to a press release.
One Md Taibur Rahman was slapped a fine of Tk9.60 lakh for razing 9600 cubic feet of hills in Chandranagar area under Bayazid Bostami Police Station.
Besides, a fine of Tk4.80 lakh was also imposed on three others – Haji Nurul Islam, Md Ibrahim and Amina Begum – for cutting hills in South Pahartali area.
The fine was determined as per the Bangladesh Environmental Protection Act 1995.
