‘Drug kingpin’ held in Rajshahi with heroin worth Tk2cr

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) on Wednesday detained an alleged drug peddler and seized a stash of heroin worth around Tk2 crore from his possession during a drive in Rajshahi.
RAB detained Robijul Islam, 50, from the Ramnagar village under Godagari upazila of Rajshahi around 2pm, and also seized 1.9 kilograms of heroin. There are allegations that Robijul is a top narcotics dealer in the region.
According to RAB-5 sources, a team from the Chapainawabganj camp conducted a drive in Godagari on a tip off, and later detained Robijul along with the stash of heroin.

During the initial interrogation, Robijul has admitted his involvement in the narcotics trade, the sources said, adding that a case has been filed with the Godagari police station over the matter.
