DU Blue Panel teachers’ association condemn insult to Bangabandhu
The arrogance of the fanatical group holding Pakistani ideology would not be tolerated in the state, which was liberated by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Pakistan, they further said
The ruling Awami League-backed Blue Panel teachers association of Dhaka University (DU) has strongly condemned the insult to the father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the name of opposing his sculpture.
They have issued a statement in this regard.
The statement read, "With great concern, we are observing that a fundamentalist group is engaged in a vile conspiracy to destabilise the country by giving provocative and confusing statements on building a sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the capital's Dholaipar."
"Sculpture is a very ancient form of art that has been practised since the early days of civilization. Many sculptures and murals have been made in Bangladesh containing the history and tradition of the great Independence. It is conceivable that some vested religion-based political groups are behind the malicious attempts to confuse the religious people of this country by comparing the traditional established art form with idols," said the statement.
The people of Bangladesh were the bearers of non-communal democratic values who could not be fooled during the rule of Pakistan for religious reasons and they would not be fooled now, the teachers said in the statement.
The arrogance of the fanatical group holding Pakistani ideology would not be tolerated in the state, which was liberated by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Pakistan, they further said.
"The teachers' community shows zero tolerance against such conspiracies and it is determined to thwart them," said the statement.
