DU VC for conducting research to get rid of Covid-19
Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for taking comprehensive and integrative measures to face the challenges of coronavirus outbreak
Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman today urged teachers and researchers of the university to conduct effective researches so that the deadly disease coronavirus could be prevented.
"We should not be panicked… We should try to overcome this situation carefully and courageously," he told a seminar titled "Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak: Challenges and Concerns for Bangladesh" organised by Biotechnology Research Centre (BRC) of DU at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for taking comprehensive and integrative measures to face the challenges of coronavirus outbreak.
He advised all specially the general people to wash hands with sanitizer and soap as well as avoid mass gathering and create awareness of the virus.
The government has already taken various measures to stop the spread of coronavirus among the people, said Former Director, Disease Control, DGHS of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Prof Dr Be-Nazir Ahmed.
He emphasised on taking more necessary measures following the examples of some affected countries, including China, South Korea and UK.

Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr Md Imdadul Hoque, Chairman of DU Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Prof Dr Mohammed Nazmul Ahsan also addressed the seminar with Director of BRC Prof Dr Sharif Akhteruzzaman in the chair.
