EC picks 68 local institutions as observers in primary selection
Following the resolution of these claims and objections, the EC will officially register them as the monitoring body for the next five years
The Election Commission (EC) has selected 68 local institutions as election observers out of the 199 who applied to get registered to monitor the upcoming national election.
The commission issued a public notice today, allowing a 15-day time frame for the submission of claims, objections, or complaints regarding the short listed institutions.
Following the resolution of these claims and objections, the EC will officially register them as the monitoring body for the next five years, reads a notice by the Election Commission.
According to EC sources, a total of 199 private institutions applied to the commission to get registered as election observers. A seven-member committee of the commission scrutinised the applications and shortlisted 68 of them.

In the most recent registration process in 2018, a total of 118 companies were granted registration to serve as observers during elections. Validity of their registration ended on 11 July. Out of the 118, some 40 institutions had applied to get registered again.
