Hijackers hit RU student’s head with hammer, 3 arrested

Police have arrested three snatchers today for mugging a Rajshahi University student after hitting his head with hammer last night.
 
The arrestees are Rakesh, Rubel and Parvej.  
 
"We arrested them from Talaimari, Binodpur and Mirzapur areas of the city," Officer-in-Charge of Motihar police station Hafizur Rahman said.
 
"The victim is Firoz Anam, a first year student of Economics department came under attack on the snatchers at around 8pm near Habibur Rahman hall on the campus.
 
He was treated at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Now he is out of danger," the OC added.
 
Meanwhile, the students of the university blocked the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway from the morning demanding punishment of the attackers.
 
Earlier on Friday night, they brought out a procession on the campus and blocked Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at around 10.30pm after the incident.
 
They suspended their movement around 2.30am midnight as university authorities assured to take action against the accused.
 
Proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman said, "We have asked the police to take immediate legal action against the hijackers."
