SUST releases another asst proctor, appoints four new
Following the release of the proctor and the student welfare advisor, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) released one of its assistant proctors and appointed four new assistant proctors.
The release and appointments were made known in a Tuesday office order signed by SUST Registrar Muhammed Ishfaqul Islam.
Assistant Proctor, Professor Tasnia Mizan Chowdhury, was released from her post in the office order. Regarding why she was released, Ishfaqul Islam said it was routine practice.
The SUST proctorial body now has 12 members with the latest appointment of four assistant proctors.
The new assistant proctors are: Forestry Department Assistant Professor Abdul Halim, Anthropology Department Assistant Professor Mohammed Zaved Kaiser Ibne Rahman, Public Administration Department Assistant Professor Mohammed Mostafa Kamal, and English Department Assistant Professor Shaheli Parvin.
SUST students started their protest movement demanding the removal of members of the proctorial body and other administrative officials, for the police attack on students.
SUST Proctor Alamgir Kabir was removed on 10 February in the face of student demands, and before him, student counselor M Professor Zahir Uddin Ahmed was also withdrawn.
The authorities opened all dormitories back on Monday, while SUST students also suspended their movement and started online classes on Tuesday.
The fifth phase of the first year honours admission process started today, Wednesday.
Referring to the syndicate meeting decision, Ishfaqul Islam said on-site, in-person, classes will start from 22 February.
On Sunday last, SUST VC Farid Uddin Ahmed attended office, the first time in 28 days.
