Can you hear the birds chirping?
As the whole of Bangladesh goes into 10-day lockdown to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, streets and public places across the country are deserted.
Most of the people have left the bustling Dhaka city and gone to their villages. All offices, educational institutions, shopping malls, markets are closed too. No public transports are plying the city streets and the highways. There is almost no sign of any soul on the streets.
People are passing their time with their families - some are watching movies, reading books, scrolling through Facebook newsfeed or sleeping for hours.
But one thing that seems to have caught the attention of hundreds around the country - how peaceful everything seems outside.
And there is another thing, you might be amazed to hear the sounds of birds chirping, after years of only listening to blaring horns and man-made cacophony in Dhaka and other metropolis.
The office of The Business Standard is situated at Eskaton Garden road, near Ramna Park in the capital. This is area remains quiet usually and it has become quieter now due to lockdown. People are seen looking out from their windows and balconies.
Apart from the noises made the crows living in the area, few other kinds of birds are also seen wandering freely. Birds are chirping everywhere.
The government has sent the whole country into a 10-day lockdown, after road transport services stopped across the country from Wednesday night amid the deadly outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Schools, colleges and other educational institutions were also closed till April 9.
The government also imposed restrictions on railway, waterway and airway services across the country.
Bangladesh confirmed five deaths from the novel coronavirus and 44 infected cases across the country till date.
