Mild heat wave sweeps parts of country: BMD
A mild heat wave is sweeping parts of the country and it may abate from some places, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"A mild heat wave is sweeping Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions and Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Kishoregonj, Narayangonj, Sylhet, Feni, Jashore and Chudanga districts and it may abate from some places," said a BMD bulletin today (23 September).
It also forecast rain or thundershowers across the country in 24 hours commencing 9am.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy fall at places over the country," it said.
The country's highest 55 millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Cox's Bazar in 24 hours till 6am on Monday.
Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country, according to the BMD.
The country's highest temperatures were recorded in Rangpur at 38.5°C yesterday while the lowest temperature 25°C was recorded in Bandarban till 6am today.
