Ex-MP George remanded in autorickshaw driver murder case

A Dhaka court today (18 September) placed former Kushtia-4 lawmaker Selim Altaf George on a three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of autorickshaw driver Md Roni during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the order as police produced the former lawmaker before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Roni was shot in front of the Primary School at Nurjahan Road area in Mohammadpur at around 1pm on 19 July. He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later.
Roni's mother later filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station.
