A fire broke out at the premises of Dhaka's Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Monday midnight.
"Eight units of fire fighters rushed to the spot to douse the blaze that originated at 2:40am," Azhar Uddin, duty officer of Tejgaon fire station, confirmed the matter to the Business Standard.
Hotel's four-storey extension building that housed Saudi Airlines, Standard Chartered Bank, Pubali Bank and Sonali Bank offices was gutted by the fire, he added.
None was reportedly injured or burnt due to the fire till filing of the report at 3.45am Tuesday.
The fire was doused at 4am.
However, the hotel authority allegedly tried to hide the news of the fire initially.
Even, Durgapodo Dey, telephone operator of the five star hotel denied such news when contacted at 3:15am midnight.
"We didn't hear any such news," he said.
During the conversation with the correspondent, Durgapodo instructed his other colleagues not to tell the media about the fire.
