Gazipur Councillor arrested for forcing worker into prostitution
The victim lodged a case Tuesday with Basan police station
A Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) councillor has been arrested for forcing a beauty parlour worker into prostitution in the city.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 1 arrested councillor of the reserved seat in GCC Ward 16, 17 and 18 Roksana Ahmed Rosie, from Dakkhin Khan area of the capital Friday night.
Earlier, the victim lodged a case Tuesday with Basan police station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) against two people including the councillor for forcibly violating the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act and forcing her to prostitution.

According to the case statement, four months ago councillor Rosie appointed the victim as a worker at Ananda Beauty Parlor owned by her at Rahaman Shopping Mall of Chandana Chourasta Mor.
After some days, she was transferred to a rented flat of the councillor in the Greatwall city area and forced to do domestic chores alongside her regular job.
Rosie forced the girl into prostitution with the help of Nurul Haque, a caretaker of her house and another accused, from 15 December to 13 February, said the case statement. The victim later managed to escape the house.
