Govt moves to repatriate Badsha Group owner from Canada
The government has taken initiatives to implement a court order to bring back the owner of Chattogram-based Badsha Group Mohammad Isa Badsha from Canada over cases filed for defaulting Tk500 crore in loans.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a letter on 10 September, requesting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take necessary measures to bring him back.
It was said in the letter, Isa Badsha would be brought back to the country to implement the order of the Chattogram Financial Debt Court.
Earlier, on 9 May this year, the Chattogram Financial Debt Court ordered the finance ministry, the secretary of the home ministry and the governor of Bangladesh Bank to bring Isa Badsha, also the owner of Messrs Isa and Musa Brothers, back to the country after the court was informed that he is currently residing in Canada.
Isa Badsha has not repaid the Tk200 crore loan taken from the Jubilee Road branch of ONE Bank in Chattogram.
According to the information of the Chattogram Financial Debt Court, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Eastern Bank, Mercantile Bank, EXIM Bank and various banks and financial institutions have cases against Isa Badsha. In these cases, the default amount is more than Tk500 crore.
