In the cadre posts, 2,064 individuals will be recruited from the 43rd BCS exam; 1,710 from the 44th BCS; 2,309 from the 45th BCS; 3,140 from the 46th BCS; and 3,487 from the 47th BCS
The government will recruit a total of 18,149 individuals – 12,710 in cadre posts and 5,439 in non-cadre posts – through five Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.
The public administration ministry's Senior Secretary Md Mokhlesur Rahman shared the information at a press conference held at the secretariat today (24 November).
In the cadre posts, 2,064 individuals will be recruited from the 43rd BCS exam; 1,710 from the 44th BCS; 2,309 from the 45th BCS; 3,140 from the 46th BCS; and 3,487 from the 47th BCS, he said.
Additionally, 642 individuals from the 43rd BCS; 1,791 from the 44th BCS; 1,570 from the 45th BCS; 1,111 from the 46th BCS; and 325 from the 47th BCS will be recruited for non-cadre posts.
The latest information regarding these five BCS exams was also shared through a written statement at the press briefing.
It said the gazette notification for 2,064 candidates selected in the 43rd BCS has been published and their joining date is set for January 1, 2025.
Following the gazette publication, discussions and criticisms have arisen in various media regarding these appointments. Therefore, to ensure that only candidates with a "clean image" are recruited, further verification and selection processes are underway through the intelligence agencies National Security Intelligence and Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, read the statement.
Meanwhile, it said, 3,930 candidates, out of the 11,732 who passed the written test, had attended the viva voce for the 44th BCS exam before the Awami League government fell on 5 August. Afterwards, given the situation, the oral exam was suspended on 25 August.
Recently, after the formation of a new Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), to ensure greater transparency, it has been decided to cancel the oral exams of those 3,930 candidates and conduct fresh viva voce for all 11,732 candidates who cleared the written test.
It has also been decided that the written examination answer scripts of all 12,789 candidates, who passed the preliminary examination, of the 45th BCS will be evaluated by a third examiner to maintain transparency and fairness.
The 46th BCS preliminary exam results were published on May 9, which selected 10,638 candidates for the written test. To eliminate potential bias, a decision has been made to re-announce the results considering a total of 21,276 candidates for the written test, by adding an equal number (10,638) of candidates to those already selected, read the statement.
Moreover, a requisition has been sent to the BPSC to issue a job circular for the recruitment in 3,487 posts of various cadres through the 47th BCS exam.
