Govt shuts down bars in capital
The government on Thursday ordered for keeping all bars in the capital shut until March 31 following detection of coronavirus cases in the country.
The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) issued a letter signed by its Deputy Director (Admin) Mohammad Momin in this regard.
Authorities concerned are ordered to keep all hotel bars/restaurant bars/club cars closed until March 31 following the emerging situation due to the coronavirus outbreak, it said.
Further decision over the issue will be informed after considering the situation later, the letter said.
Bangladesh announced its first coronavirus death on Wednesday. Three more people tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, raising the total number of cases to 17 in the country.
On March 8, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) announced the detection of three Covid-19 patients in Bangladesh for the first time.
