Ramadan fasting is safe for kidney transplant recipients when the function of the renal graft is acceptable and stable
- Kidney disease patients who want to fast should have stable kidney function, controlled blood pressure stable blood sugar level, and absence of proteinuria.
- Before they decide to fast, they should consult a Nephrologist.
- Generally, patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 1 and stage 2 can fast; those with CKD stage 3 having less than 30ml eGFR should not fast.
