Hefazat Ameer vows to avenge deaths of its activists
He also demanded the immediate departure of Narendra Modi from Bangladesh
Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Junaid Babunagari has vowed to avenge the deaths of its six activists, who were shot dead during clashes with police and ruling party men in Dhaka, Chattogram and Brahmanbaria.
In a statement on Saturday, the Hefazat chief said the incident of police firing on a peaceful movement can never be accepted.
"The devoted Muslims of the country staged peaceful demonstrations in different parts of the country to protest against Narendra Modi's arrival. Attacks on the movement have been reported in various places. In Hathazari, four of our brothers were martyred by the police. The blood, shed by our brothers, will never be allowed to go in vain," he said in the statement.
The Hefazat Ameer also called upon the people to hold peaceful demonstrations across the country and join their Sunday's hartal protesting the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He demanded justice and punishment for those, who were involved in yesterday's shootings.
"The administration must give an answer as to under whose direction the unarmed students were attacked and shot, and the accused policemen must be given exemplary punishment," he added.
Meanwhile, he also demanded the immediate departure of Narendra Modi from Bangladesh.
Leaders and activists of his party clashed with police and ruling Awami League men on Friday in Dhaka, Chattogram and Brahmanbaria when they were barred from protesting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit. At least five people were killed and dozens injured during the clashes.
