Hefazat’s Mamunul, 42 others sued for embezzling Tk20 crore

An embezzlement case of Tk20 crore has been filed against 43 people including Mamunul Haque, the former joint secretary-general of the defunct committee of Hefazat-e-Islam.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan today directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the matter and submit a report with the recorded statement of the plaintiff.
Muhaddis Maulana Abdur Razzak Qasemi filed the case on Tuesday on behalf of Al Madrasatu Mueenul Islam.
According to the case complaints, the accused embezzled Tk20 crore by colluding with each other from the late founder of Al Madrasatu Mueenul Islam, Muhtamim Mufti Ataur Rahman, by showing him various reports of expenses.
Moreover, they ransacked money, cash documents, receipt books, expenditure vouchers, cheque books, ledger books and stock books that were stored inside the office of the madrassa and locked the office room on 9 October 2020.
