High Court issues rule on expulsion of 15 PEC examinees
The authorities have also been asked to explain why the expelled students should not be allowed to retake the exams
The High Court on Thursday questioned legality of the expulsion of examinees from the ongoing Primary Education Completion and its equivalent Ebtedayee Terminal Examinations 2019.
The apex court sought an explanation from the respondents in two weeks why the examinees have been expelled.
Secretary of the primary and mass education ministry and director general of the Directorate of Primary Education among four have been made respondents to the rule.

The authorities have also been asked to explain why the expelled students should not be allowed to retake the exams.
A High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the rule on their own initiative on Thursday, following a report on the matter published on a national daily on November 19.
The HC bench also asked why the instruction no 11 of the guidelines on PEC and Ebtedayee exams, issued by the Directorate of Primary Education, should not be declared illegal.
The court adjourned the hearing on the matter until Dec 10.
Around 15 students were expelled from the ongoing PEC and Ebtedayee terminal examinations started on November 17.
Advocate Zamiul Haque Faisal, who placed the issue before the court, said, the expelled students are around 10 to 11 years old. This type of punishment at this age will affect their mental health.
