Human Rights Commission asks the govt to help Rayhan Kabir
Expressing deep concern over Rayhan’s situation, the commission’s press release said that according to the media, there are no other allegations against Rayhan as well
The National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh has asked the government to give legal aid and other necessary help to Md Rayhan Kabir, a Bangladeshi youth who has been arrested in Malaysia for criticising on television the country's treatment of undocumented migrants during the coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release today, the commission said, "Malaysian administration put out circulars in newspapers and summoned for personal information on Rayhan for giving an interview to a news outlet. They cancelled his work permit and later arrested him- all these have worried many national and international organisations working with migration."
Expressing deep concern over Rayhan's situation, the commission's press release said that according to the media, there are no other allegations against Rayhan as well.

In this circumstance, the commission has requested the government to help Rayhan Kabir.
The 25-year-old Md Rayhan Kabir, who was featured in the Al Jazeera documentary Locked Up in Malaysia's Lockdown, made various allegations against the Malaysian authorities.
He was arrested by Malaysian police on July 24 and remanded for 14 days.
