Illegal recruitments: ACC sues ex-Wasa MD Taqsem, ex-chairman Habibur and 8 others

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Dhaka Wasa managing director (MD) Taqsem A Khan, former chairman Md Habibur Rahman and eight others for their alleged involvement in illegal recruitments.
ACC Deputy Director Syed Nazrul Islam filed the case with the Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Court, ACC Director General (prevention) Md Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter today (8 January).
"The accused have been charged under sections 409, 420, and 109 of the Penal Code and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947," he added.
According to the case document, the former Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) chairman and members of the board, misused their power and appointed two individuals of their choice to positions that were not authorised in the Wasa organisational chart, bypassing the recruitment rules and regulations.
Other accused in the case include Wasa former Additional Secretary (Budget-2) Sudhangshu Shekhar Biswas, FCA Vice President Muhammad Mahmud Hossain, former directors Abul Kashem, AKM Shahid Uddin, Engineers Institution representative Engineer Md Nuruzzaman, Institution of Diploma Engineers President Engineer AKMA Hamid and Former councillors Aleya Sarwar Daisy and Md Hasibur Rahman Manik.
