India's external affairs minister to visit Dhaka tomorrow
The external affairs minister of India, Dr S Jaishankar, is scheduled to reach Dhaka tomorrow on an official visit intended to prepare ground for the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Indian ministry has issued a press release in this regard on Wednesday, stating that Jaishankar's visit is in response to an invitation by his Bangladeshi counterpart, Dr AK Abdul Momen.
It also said, "During the visit, External Affairs Minister will meet Bangladesh Foreign Minister and also call on H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh."
This visit of Jaishankar to Bangladesh follows on the PM-level virtual summit held between two countries on 17 December last year.
It will provide an opportunity to take stock of the progress in bilateral relations of both countries, it added.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Bangladesh on 26 March on the occasion of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the liberation of Bangladesh.
