We will scrutinise slow projects: IMED secretary
The secretary said evaluating all the projects implemented across the country is one of the challenges for the IMED because there is a manpower crisis
The projects with a poor progress in their implementation in every ministry will be scrutinised, said Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty, secretary to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation department (IMED) of the planning ministry.
They will hold meetings on the projects with zero to 5% implementation even after a long time since their initiation. Then, steps will be taken to resolve issues for the poor implementation rate, the IMED secretary said at a seminar in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Wednesday.
Pradeep said the projects running at a slow pace will especially be evaluated and they will soon begin work in this regard.

"We do not work to find someone's faults and flaws, rather we perform our duty. We have to work through mutual cooperation. The quality implementation of a project requires tripartite assistance. That is – from the project implementing agency, the ministry concerned and the IMED. I told the officials that there was no need to make the project inspection report bigger. Let it be small but effective," he added.

IMED Deputy Secretary Mohammad Arifur Rahman presented the keynote paper at the seminar.
