Interim govt working to make Durga Puja more joyous: Rizvi
The interim government has been working to make Durga Puja, the largest festival for the Bangladeshi Hindu community, even more joyful, BNP Senior Joint Secretary Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said today (12 October).
"Today everyone, including Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, are protecting [mandaps] to make the Durga Puja festival even more vibrant so that no conspirators can fulfil their objectives," the BNP leader said while visiting the Durga Puja mandap at Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University.
Those who create division for their own interests — those terrorists, those communal forces — will not be able to do so anymore, he added.
Rizvi said those who have spread conflict have done so for political purposes and personal gain.
"They called for the destruction of our strong and unbreakable bond. For thousands of years, we have lived together in this land. There may have been different regimes, but there has never been a separate regime for this festival. It has always been a place of great unity. We must all remain vigilant to ensure that this platform is not destroyed by anyone," Rizvi said.
Also present at the time were Supradip Chakma, adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, BNP's Assistant Publication Secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen, among others.
