JS passes bills to publish HSC, equivalent results
The bills were passed on Sunday in the 11th session of 11th Jatiya Sangsad
The National Parliament today paved the way for publishing the results of higher secondary certificate and equivalent examinations by passing the three bills.
The bills were passed on Sunday in the 11th session of 11th Jatiya Sangsad.
Now, the bills will be sent for the approval from president.
After president's sign, the results will be published.
Earlier, on Tuesday the Parliamentary Standing Committee on education ministry Okayed three bills after review.
These amendments for publication of the results were needed since the HSC and its equivalent examinations could not be held last year due to the Covid-19 situation.
Parliament sent three bills to the standing committee hours after Education Minister Dipu Moni placed them before it with a two-day time for review.
The committee conducted the review in a meeting chaired by Fazle Hossain Badsha, a senior member of the parliamentary body.
The bills are – "Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill, 2021", "Bangladesh Technical Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021" and "Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021".
The government closed all educational institutions days after the coronavirus outbreak in the country in March. In these extenuating circumstances, it was later decided to publish the HSC and equivalent results without holding the examinations.
Since existing laws preclude authorities from publishing the results without holding examinations, the government has had to move to amend the relevant laws.
Last week, the Cabinet gave the nod to amend relevant laws in parliament to enable publication of the HSC results.
The related Acts are – the Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance-1961, Bangladesh Vocational Education Board Act-2018, and Madrasa Education Board Act-2020.
